Madonna has four children. She has a little boy and a little girl she adopted from Africa and when she is not on stage, and playing Mom, she wears her stainless Rolex Daytona as seen in the following photos.
In this first photo we see Madonna with her two daughters. Mercy is sitting on her lap playing with her Rolex Daytona clasp while Lourdes looks on. This first photo was taken in Chinkota, Malawi, Africa.
In the next two photos Madonna is holding her son David in her arms
Lorena Ochoa is arguably the best female golfer playing today. She has been ranked number one in the world for the last three years from 2007 to 2010. Lorena is from Mexico and she is the first Mexican golfer to ever be ranked number one in the world.
Lorena is pictured below in a recent Rolex magazine ad wearing a ladies 31 Datejust. She usually wears her two-tone ladies 29mm Yacht-Master as seen in the photo above and in the last two photos in this story.
In the next two photos, Lorena is pictured at The Rolex Awards Dinner. In the photo below Lorena is posing with her LPGA player of the year trophy.
The Rolex Awards Dinner and reception was held at Donald Trumps Mar-A-Lago and we see (from left to right) Rolex representative, Peter Nicholson, Donald Trump, Lorena Ochoa and LPGA commisssioner, Carloyn Bivens.
Women have been wearing men's Rolex watches since the actress Honor Blackman played Pussy Galore in 1964 in Goldfinger. In the late 1990s, Rolex came out with the first fashion watch for women that was based upon, what up until then, was considered a men's watch.
Rolex offered this watch in white gold, with a pink mother-of-pearl dial with a matching pink band. They also offered it in green, yellow and blue. I always thought this was a really sexy watch (for girls ;-)
Martijn (Theflyingdutchman) is a fan of Jake's Rolex World and he sent in these stunning photos of his "Big Bubbleback" Rolex Datejust watches. These watches were made between 1955 and 1957 and they are highly sought after by collectors.
In Italy the Reference 6035 "Big Bubbleback" is commonly referred to by collectors as "Overttone," which means "Big Egg,"since it has such a thick bubbleback. I love how Rolex in the mid 1950s used to have a red date on the Datejust and Day-Date.
As many of you know, I was extremely excited for the iPad to come out since I knew it would completely revolutionize the viewing experience and quality of Jake's Rolex World and actually make it into a world-class digital magazine that was also very good for the environment.
When the iPad first came out, the first thing I did was check out Jake's Rolex World and it was one of the biggest disappointments of my life!!! The iPad was amazing, but Jake's Rolex World looked terrible and kept crashing the iPad!!!
The challenge was that in trying to make Jake's Rolex World future-proof, I over-shot the mark quite a bit!!!
Unfortunately, I have had to completely redesign the html infrastructure and UI which is terribly time consuming and challenging and required a lot of math skills I typically don't use.
The great news is that doing so was a blessing in disguise and now Jake's Rolex World is looking better and loading faster than ever on the desktop, on laptops, as well as on the iPad and iPhone!!!
There are four phases to optimizing Jake's Rolex World and as I complete each phase, I will update it here:
Phase 1: Figure out what was wrong and how to fix it!!! This was not easy and my brain is still hurting from all the math and experimenting with the User Interface. The challenge is that I did not want the new user interface to simply work on the iPad and iPhone, I wanted it to look and work perfectly. I also did not want to waste a single pixel. The biggest challenge was making certain it looked great on the desktop and on laptops as well as on the iPad and iPhone. (Status: Complete)
Phase 2: Redesign and resize all page and UI elements to optimally fit on the iPad and iPhone screen. (Status: Complete) Having completed this means Jake's Rolex World is not viewable on an iPad and iPhone with the following exceptions:
Phase 3: Redesign all story view shortcuts that appear on all pages on the sidebar (Status: Complete)
Phase 4: Take all large stories and break them into multiple segments so the iPad and iPhone won't crash on them. (Status: In Progress)
I am completely committed to providing you (my readers) with the absolute best viewing and reading experience possible and now Jake's Rolex World looks amazing on the iPad and iPhone!!!
Daniel Craig who plays James Bond is pictured below wearing a modern stainless steel Rolex Submariner. Also, his girlfriend, Satsuki Mitchell appears to be wearing one of his stainless steel Rolex models as well. I first documented Daniel Craig's preference for Rolex back in November of 2008 and have documented all 8 of his Rolex watches.
Celebrating The 4th Year of Jake's Rolex World!!!!
This last weekend, as I wrote The Complete History Of The Paul Newman Daytona, the 3rd anniversary of Jake's Rolex World came and went. It is hard to believe I have been working full-time on publishing Jake's Rolex World for 3 straight years!!!! On average, I have worked 7 days a week, 10 hours a day, because I am extremely passionate about capturing this amazing and highly inspirational history before it disappears.
When I first began Jake's Rolex World back in May of 2008, I had one crystal-clear objective, and that was to take everything I learned over the prior quarter-century about Rolex and put it all in one place–on the world wide web–so I could share it with the world.
I remember just before I started Jake's Rolex World, wondering if I would even be able to build a blog around a company that made less than a dozen core watch models. I was worried I would run out of content and boy was I wrong!!!! It turned out to be quite the opposite, and as soon as I started unearthing and solving one Rolex history mystery, it would inevitably lead to another.
I felt like I was wandering around the world, looking for clues, and I would see a rock, and my intuition would tell me there was probably a lobster under the rock, so I would lift up the rock, and instead, I would find a Tyrannosaurus Rex smiling at me. And yes, you guessed–it kept happening over and over again, as it does to this day.
At the time I stated Jake's Rolex, I had no idea, it would evolve and snowball into what it has become today. When I hear readers refer to Jake's Rolex World as The Bible Of Rolex or Rolexpedia it makes me proud I was able to capture and share this amazing history with you!!!
The most important thing to understand about Jake's Rolex World, is despite the fact it has my name on it, it really belongs to the Rolex community. Without the online Rolex community, I never could have built Jake's Rolex World. There have been an innumerable number of people who lovingly contributed all kinds of content including photos of watches, people wearing Rolex, tidbits of information, video and all kinds of other valuable insight and information.
In my mind, Jake's Rolex World is proof positive of what passionate people can do to collaborate on the World Wide Web. While it is true I am a real historian, willing to dig-deep and not just simply regurgitate (like a parakeet) other peoples words, in the final analysis I am just the messenger. Without your enthusiasm, passion and insight there would be no Jake's Rolex World.
I believe when you study the engaging Rolex history, you inevitably become part of it. Once, three years ago, I asked you (my readers) to help support the future of Jake's Rolex World by making a donation. Today I am asking you to please make a donation to support the future progress of Jake's Rolex World.
I am working on some amazing research projects as well as an iPad application that will be incredible, so if you want to keep seeing great, insightful, detailed articles like the Paul Newman Daytona story below this note, as well as fascinating podcasts, please help support future progress by making a donation today.
In the photo below we see former Taxi star, Tony Danza as he gets out of his Mini Cooper and he is wearing his 34mm Rolex which is also very small. I think it looks funny on a guy with big arms. To me it looks like he is wearing a girls watch?
Rolex is one of the most recognizable brands on earth, but very little has been known about its real history. If you really, really want to understand what makes Rolex tick, I very highly recommend you read the fascinating story of Rolex's amazing founder–Hans Wilsdorf.
