Thomas Freidman is a 3 time Pulitzer Prize Winning Author who is also a columnist for the New York Times. His New York Times column is published in over 700 newspapers worldwide. Thomas Freidman is picture below wearing his two-tone Rolex Datejust on a Jubilee band and he also wears a larger Rolex sport model on an Oyster band which you see in the Letterman video below.
Supermodel Elle Macpherson is pictured below wearing her trademark yellow gold Rolex Daytona. I believe that Elle Macpherson was the first woman to really start the trend of women wearing men's Rolex watches which is extremely popular today.
Daniel Craig who plays James Bond presented at the 2009 Oscars with Sarah Jessica Parker and he was wearing his vintage Rolex Daytona [Reference 6263]. The supreme irony is that on screen, as James Bond, Daniel Craig wears an Omega, but in his real life, Daniel Craig wears at least 5 different Rolex watches. It appears his favorite Rolex lately is his vintage Daytona which he is seen wearing in the following photos.
In my personal opinion, I think Daniel Craig, is much cooler in real life than he is playing James Bond. He is pictured above arriving at the Academy Awards and he is pictured below presenting with actress, Sarah Jessica Parker.
In case you missed the Oscars here is Beyonce with Hugh Jackman
Former First Lady, U.S. Senator and Democratic Presidential contender Hillary Clinton is now the U.S. Secretary of State and she is seen in the two photos below wearing her trademark Ladies Rolex two-tone Datejust on a Jubilee bracelet.
Kyle from New York first contacted me with this email:
"Dear Jake, I'm thirteen years old, and I want to say thank you for your wonderful blog. I read it daily, and I enjoy it very much. I would like to share a couple of pictures of my Rolex Explorer with you, and I took them myself. Thanks!" –Kyle
I was really moved when I first received Kyle's email. I first became aware of Rolex when I was 14 or so. I bought my first Rolex which was a Submariner when I was 16. I imagine when I was Kyle's age, if there had been an internet with Rolex.com, great Rolex forums, and Jake's Rolex Watch Blog, I would have probably discovered the amazing world of Rolex earlier.
When I was Kyle's age I collected coins and stamps but I simply had not been exposed to Rolex watches. I believe the internet is amazing as a communication and collaboration medium, but most importantly for building communities and social networks like the Rolex online community of which we are all a part.
I was amazed at how great Kyle's photographs were. His composition skills are obviously great. I asked Kyle some questions and here are his answers. I asked him how he discovered Jake's Rolex Watch Blog, and he replied:
"I discovered you blog through many of the watch forums. They recommended your blog as a source of information and a good sourse for pictures. I agree. Your blog has so many pictures, and I learned a lot from your posts. I especially like the custom Rolex section."
"It was around September of 2008 when I first discovered Rolex. My mother was in the process of buying a Rolex for my father, and I thought, "Hey, if they can get one, why can't I?" I actually bought the Rolex myself, using money I have saved up over the years. I've owned it for about 5 months now, and I love it! I guess ever since the day I bought my Explorer, I've been hooked!"
Kyle took all these stunning Rolex photos and on behalf of all our international readership (Jake's Rolex Watch Blog is read in over 100 countries–internationally), Kyle I would like to thank you very much and encourage you to keep exploring the world of these mechanical masterpieces. Leo and I are very happy to have you as a reader. Thanks for sharing!!!!
Like Father Like Son
Kyle also shared this photo of his father's Rolex Date. Rolex watches are so well designed they will essentially last forever, if properly maintained. I think it is really neat that Kyle and his father both wear Rolex watches. Very cool!!!
Amazing British singer/songwriter Phil Collins is seen in the photo below sporting his stainless steel and platinum Rolex Yachtmaster. Of course, Phil Collins started with the band Genesis and went on to have an ultra-successful solo career.
Since we just saw Pink Floyd perform in London in 2005 at Live 8, I thought I would take you back to London for the original Live Aid in 1985, almost a quarter of a century ago. Amazing performance and Phil is wearing a Platinum Day-Date which you get a great view of toward the end of the song (not to mention that mullet which is all business in the front, and party in the back ;-)
I included, this second video from the animated Tarzan movie which is just a really nice song. Enjoy:
Gianvittorio Molteni from Milan, Italy is a big fan of Jake's Rolex Watch Blog. He sent in the superb photo of his vintage Rolex Submariner [Reference 5513] from 1964, which is all original with the gilt dial and domed crystal twin crown. He mentioned that his friend and talented photographer Luciano Cipullo took this great photo.
Thanks for sending in this great shot Gianvittorio!!!
By the way, I think this is the same Rolex Reference 5513 that Steve McQueen is wearing in the photos below this post.
"I chose Rolex for their exquisite watches–the way they combine their extremely beautiful cases and dials is pure excellence." –David Blie

Pink Gold Rolex Moonphase [6062 Reference]
This pink gold star dial moonphase with matching pink gold Jubilee bracelet is gorgeous and will be offered at the Patrizzi & Company Auction in Milan, Italy.
Next we see this stainless steel Rolex Moonphase [Reference 6062] on a matching Rolex Oyster bracelet with 3 and 9 Arabic numeral indices on the silvered dial. Another beauty!!! Also notice the almost miniature Rolex Crown Logo on the dial at 12.
Last but not least, we have this stainless steel Paul Newman exotic dial with a very rare combination of gold hands and matching gold 5 minute markers. To view the entire David Blei Patrizzi Auction Catalog, please click here.
Richard Gere has been a supporter of His Holiness, The 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet for many years. The first photo, taken in 1994, shows Richard Gere wearing his two-tone Rolex Datejust and in the second photo we see the Dalai Lama wearing his two-tone Rolex Datejust. Perhaps Richard Gere gave the Dalai Lama his Rolex Datejust?
Daniel Craig plays James Bond, but in his real life has been seen wearing 6 different Rolex watch models. In this photo he is wearing his vintage Daytona and he is out in the rain signing autographs. That is water all over his black tuxedo overcoat. What a trooper!!!
Today is Abraham Lincoln's 200th birthday. Rolex made a Lincoln model way back when. Maybe this is really the first Rolex President? Also it is Charles Darwin's 200th birthday today. That's right, Lincoln and Darwin were both born on February 12, 1809.
Since we were on the subject of Captian Chesley Sullenberger who began his career in the Air Force flying F-4 Phantom II fighter planes, I thought I would share this photo of Chuck Yeager that was taken at Edwards Air Force Base Test Flight Center in 1953–and of course Chuck is wearing his trusted Rolex.
This photo was taken 56 years ago and Chuck Yeager still wears a Rolex to this day. When he broke the sound barrier in 1947 he was also wearing his Rolex Oyster which was 62 years ago. Click the image below for better detail:
Historically Rolex has always been extremely secretive and discreet, and no journalists in the past have ever been invited "INSIDE ROLEX" to explore and report on all four Rolex Manufacturing faclities in Switzerland.
In November 2013, this changed when Rolex invited Jake to take an unprecdented journey into the heart of Rolex to learn and report on everything he witnessed and learned.
This Super-Detailed 3 Part Story is a "MUST READ" story for anybody who wants to really understand what really makes Rolex tick.
