The Australian born George Lazenby was chosen to play James Bond in the movie On Her Majesty's Secret Service after Sean Connery announced he would no longer be playing the role. Lazenby had very little acting experience when he was chosen to play James Bond, but at the time, he was the highest paid male model in the world.
While shooting On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Lazenby was offered a contract to play James Bond in the next 7 films, but Lazenby's manager, Rohnan O'Rahilly convinced George not to accept the offer, which George later ending up regretting.
The reviews for On Her Majesty's Secret Service were mixed. Some people though Laznby was the best Bond and others thought the opposite. One thing that probably effected the not-so-stellar performance at the box office was that George announced before the movie premiered that he would not be reprising the role of James Bond in the next movie.
One of the watches the James Bond character wore in the movie is a Pre-Daytona Rolex Chronograph (Reference 6238) that is Circa 1964. The watch above is from the movie, but the watch below is not. The watch below is identical in every way except the watch he wore in the movie has a red sweeping Chronograph second hand.
The primary difference between a Pre-Daytona Chronograph and a Daytona Chronograph is the Pre-Daytona (as pictured above) has the units per hours measurement numbers running around the outside edge of the dial and the Daytona has them etched on the actual bezel.
Also, when Rolex created the Daytona model designation, they also stopped calling it a Chronograph and instead created their own proprietary name which remains on the Rolex Daytona today of "Cosmograph."
